In early May of 2009, Montana Lyric Opera brought opera to the classroom with an adaptation of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s fantastical opera, The Magic Flute, created by Missoula playwright and director Stacey Gordon. In our modernized adaptation -- styled after the popular “Twilight” books and films -- two young people find their love challenged by a dark secret. Can love truly conquer a world filled with immortals?

Our production visited schools in Corvallis, Hamilton, and Missoula, exposing students of all ages to live opera performed by a cast of professional and collegiate opera singers.
